Michael Bartl, Jeremy Galusha and colleagues from BYU and IBM reported the discovery of a diamond-based photonic crystal found in iridescent scales of a Brazilian beetle (Phys. Rev. E 2008, 77, 050904(R)). The discovered structure has one of the most-desired photonic architectures and is the first example of a diamond-based photonic crystal operating at visible wavelengths. learn more...

New faculty member

Dr. Kenneth Woycechowsky has joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Utah as an Assistant Professor working in the area of Biological Chemistry. Ken received his B.S. from Penn State (1994), Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin, Madison (2002) and worked as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at ETH-Zurich (2002-2008). For more information click here
